Oregon school shooting kills three children and a teacher
A 16-year-old opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, killing three children, ages 5, 8 and 11, and a teacher, authorities said. A community member shot and killed the suspect. Two other people were hospitalized in critical condition; police have not announced a motive.

California wildfires prompt evacuations as heat and winds persist
